  2. The Fediverse is a virtual world and has no topology, so I opted to make an elevation map. Coastlines and water bodies were derived from this map by intersecting it with a sea level plane. I grouped the instances into thematic provinces, and the provinces into thematic regions, which were in turn assigned locations by free association.

  4. What I think would be interesting to see is a map of the Fediverse. Similar to the (now outdated) Map of the Internet. Something that would that would visually display instance sizes and sort / group them by some criteria. I would like to see what interest groups are present in the Fediverse and how big they are.
